I haven’t played noughts and crosses in I don’t know how long, but when looking for something to add to the ‘Kids, Big & Small’ section of the store I came across these lovely little sets. I notice that we no longer call it noughts and crosses but rather the americanized ‘Tic-Tac-Toe, which I have to admit I don’t fully understand. Never the less these little resin sets fit in with the theme of the store quite nicely.

We have teams of opposing gargoyles, fairies and dragons and dragons against unicorns, as well as a stunning chess set that features Vikings against Celts. Each of these sets comes in a decorated gift box and would be an ideal christmas gift for any fantasy lover, they are too good to be kept in a cupboard, so have them on display!

Well it is, and theres nothing you can do to get away from the fact.

There is no escaping the onslaught of TV commercials that are telling our children that they NEED all the shiny new toys on display there; that hampers are the way to go for a stress free, debt free christmas and that now is the time to be booking your summer holiday! However they fail to tell you that the toys shown on the TV are not what you can actually afford to buy as they show the entire set of toys, not the flimsy bit of plastic that you can actually afford to buy your child; that when you open your hamper you find that there are products there from manufacturers you have never heard of and tins of obscure vegetables that will still be in your cupboard next christmas – unless you can of load them to your kids school for a summer fayre or harvest festival! Not to mention that a summer holiday is the last thing on your mind as you are trying to get Christmas over with first.

Still, I have to bow my head and admit that the amount of shiny new flimsy plastic waiting to be wrapped up for a certain little boy to open on christmas morning will be slightly more than I had planned to buy, but I draw the line at a hamper. I tried it once and had stuff in my cupboard and freezer for the following year or so that I had no idea how to get rid of.

But, as a woman with a business to run I do have to succome to offering some ‘themed’ merchendise to fit with the season. Perhaps my standards are too high, I don’t know. But I refuse to add some of the tacky, tasteless items to my store that manufacturers promote. So far I have a few nice candle and incense gift sets in stock and last night I finished adding a beautiful range of Yule/Christmas cards to my store. I still have some lovely crystal jewellery to list in there and some fantastic gothic jewellery items, but nothing that jingles, flashes gaudy lights or goes Ho Ho Ho!

Well it seems like the days of pastel pink fairies and gossamer wings are being left behind these days, as a new style of fairy giftware takes the stage. I have to say I like it, its bold and colourful with an almost cartoon like cuteness and its definmately funky – with not a hint of glitter in sight.

I have this afternoon uploaded some new fairy giftware into the store, by the wonderfully talented Nemesis Now designer Jasmine Beckett-Griffiths. these outrageous little fairies have the widest, most appealing eyes and all look as though they may have some dirty little secret hidden away – perhaps stored in the casket upon which each of them sits?

Tribal Fairy Trinket Box

Out of the pieces I have uploded I have two firm favourites, The Sectret of Notredame, and the Tribal Fairy. I would like to be able to come up with an excuse that would allow me to keep one of each for myself, but whichwever way i try to word it, I can’t seem to be able to justify it. But, if I was still a teenager or at least still able to carry off the appearance of the closet goth buried deep within me, I’d have a house filled to the brim with all of the stuff I love, rather than the sensible grown up home I have!

You may not think that a store that sells new age and mystical items would have anything to cater for the younger members of the family, well if thats what you think – you’re dead wrong!

New this month, in face JUST UPLOADED to the store are a range of award winning chldrens items.

The ‘Feel Good Friends’ series are bright, cheerful and fun, each item is designed to encourage childrens confidence and build upon their caring and sharing skills.

The ‘I Feel Good About Me’ Book is a great place to start. It is a fun, imaginative book for kids in which to record details of their lives. Focussing on what they are good at and why they are special. This is an ideal way to get children to feel good about themselves, building their confidence and self esteem. It encourages goal setting from a young age and also gets them thinking about their world, and how they can make it a better place.
